WHEN I CHECKED THE DIP STICK ON THE RIGHT SIDE BELOW THE DRIVER SEAT IT SAYS THAT IT IS LOW ON OIL. IS THIS THE TRANSMISSION OIL OR HYDRAULIC OIL OR ARE THAT BOTH THE SAME? WHAT TYPE OIL DO I PUT IN IT? DOES IT GO IN RIGHT BESIDE THE SHIFT LEVER? THANKS. I HOPE TO GET MANUAL SOON.
ROBERT

Robert, when you refill with oil dont dump hole 5gal at once! you are gona have to give it some time to reach differental, there are some small hole for this fluid to go tru on the trans case.please take your time when filling and another thing is sludge in bottom can throw you off on how full it realy is. happy tractoring BOB

Robert..... ....would you be surprized to learn that the N-Tractor has a common hydro-tranny oil sump that holds 5 gals of oil? And it is good to replace your hydro-tranny oil every 600 hrs of operation.

DO NOT USE HYDRAULIC OIL.

Ford/New Holland now recommends spec: M2C-134D hydro-tranny oil. Of course you could use the 1939 recommended spec: 90wt MINERAL OIL, if you can find it. Some claim it is simular to GL-1, I don't know, I use 134 oil.

3-Drains and 1-fill'em up by tranny shifter lever. Drain the square diffy plug first, then the 3" tranny plug, then the 3" hydro pump plug.

And yes, the 6" round dip-stick is for the entire hydraulic-tranny oil level..... ...respectfully, Dell

That is for both the transmission and the hydraulics. I would fill it with whatever is currently in there (could be 80W or 90W mineral oil or the newer standard 134D, or any number of other things that are not as kind to the tractor). If you don't know what is in there then I would use this as a chance to completely change it and put the correct know-what-it-is fluid into it. Fill it with the big hole next to the gear shift.
