my question is are all the pto shaft ujoints the same, size, if so does anyone know the number for it, I just purchased a fergy that had a hog with it, it had a slip disc instead of the shear pin, I guess it must have been froze, up, it did hours of hoggin, and now I have a 2 piece shaft,, ,also how do you adjust the slip clutch, I am selling this one next week anyway, but figured I would do my hard hoggin to have a clear conscience,, haha,, I want to get the slip disc working prior to delivering to new owner, do I just loosen all the nuts and kinda get it to slip and tighten accordingly, thansk sorry so many questions in one post, have a great day,pat, I notice there are a few pats on here now, I started as goinnutts here then pat and now I guess it will be pat,ny.{upstate ny haha}

Pat, There are all different sizes and style. Different shafts (the sliding portion) some square, triangular.... Different cross bearings, some inch, some metric.... But, that being said, there is interchangability. Several people make all the different style.... Chicago rawhide, bondioli, Rockwell, and Dana/spicer. That being said, if you want me to e-mail you info just let me know.

We're all different, as are our fixes.... my Bushhog had a bad joint... so I set about to find a new one. Ended up at Champion Auto. They had to order it and it was more than $20. But I took it, and when I installed it, I then learned that the yoke was 'sprung'. I could make it go together, but it was *SO* tight, I knew it wouldn't last. WHat to do. Decided to rob (hacksaw) the end off the PTO from an old Allis round baler. Then I cut the sprung yoke off, shortened up the baler yoke, and welded 'em up. Not too bad for straight, this 'new' one has a larger joint which might even be more durable with all that excessive N horsepower. Worked for me, duey

Those u-joints seem to come in all sorts of sizes. Guy in here yesterday day before was hoping someone could come up with a source for his 'discontinued' size. Farm/ranch stores have some. Try 'bearings' or 'power distribution' (the guys with chains, sprockets, sheaves, augers, bearings, etc.) in the yellow pages. BRC Bearing and IBC are the outfits locally. Not sure if they have u-joints though. Good luck.
