Dad called this morning and wondered about changing the hydraulic fluid as I have had some problems with the lift. We agreed it may warm up later. Made my trip to Westby for bacon and rolls and when I got back, boy, it was warm - 40. Built fire in the stove for the first time and had good heat. Ran 9N to warm up engine and called dad. He came out to the farm with 10W-30 oil and a couple pans. We ended up draining the hydraulic fluid also. On middle plug, there was little yellowish colored chuncks. I moved them around with my fingers and they disappeared. We are guessing ice! Will go to town tomorrow and get more fluid-meets Ford specs. Found this site a few weeks ago and enjoy it. Sorry for rambling. Bread is out of the oven and should be cooled enough for eating. Take care, wishing for more snow in Wisconsin! Al

If you want more snow, just come down to the Milwaukee area. We had a total of 49.5 inches during December. My NAA with the front blade has had quite a workout so far this winter. I would rather be mowing grass than pushing snow.

AMAZING DIFFERENCE CHANGING THE TRANS FLUID MAKES

I am on the IL/WI line and did the same thing a week ago when lift with backblade wouldn't go down. Found chunks of ice you could have put in a manhattan! I need to order a new shifter boot to make sure I keep the water out.

Those shifter boots are harder to get on than you would think, the trick is to turn it inside out and with a little help from silicone spray it should slip into place .

It sure does feel good to see the temp get up to 40. I backed the FergusoN out of the garage to melt the snow off. After doing a little cleanup shoveling it felt good running around in my shirt sleeves for awhile. I even washed my car and sprayed all the salt off from the underneath.
