Burt..... .even nicer are the Mark I series of the original "Continental", Edsel Ford's factory chopped and channeled Customized Lincoln. The V-12 was to compete with Caddy's and Packards high-rollers $$$. The V-12's longer crankshaft had crankshaft whip problems, wheather insufficent bearing support or lube problems, I don't know..... ....Dell

Regrettably what should have been a roaring success turned into a nightmare for Ford. The Flathead V12s were an extension of the V8 and should have worked. My info is that they were plagued with Lubrication problems that Ford could not solve. In 1949 they went to a large V8 of similiar HP. In 1952, they went to an overhead V8. If I owned one, I would research this aspect carefully as a number are still around which means that someone knows what is necessary to prevent bearing problems. I hope this helps, Rich

A fried of mine that I worked with back in the 60s had one of the first Lincolns made ( he restored it) Ford Motor co. borrowed it from him for some type of show and returned it in good condition. the last time I heard from him he was still waiting for his money . The original owner was the owner of Kresges Dept. Stores or better known today as K Mart. He drove it to work a time or two, it had a BIG Long hood , leather int. and as I recall it was a two door with a v8 engine.

Most of the time that V-12 is quite troublesome. Many owners have replaced it with an 8 cyl.

there was one here in the Springfield Area about 10 years ago, it was Brown, with gold plated hardware. Story goes that henry made 30 of them so all his family could go to some big hoop ti doo party in style, with all them purty cars lined up to get in. I'll ask a street rodder buddy tomorrow at work, he has one that is barely drivable. it's 6V too, not 8V or 12V

There was a V-12 someone put in a 8N tractor at the antique tractor show in Republic Missouri (show was 2 years ago)! I couldn't believe my eyes!!
