I have had my radiator topped up to the cap for a while and never had coolant loss out the over flow until the other day, it was the first hot weather of the year and after about 10 mins of running I shut her down and shortly there after I saw coolant spurtin out. Havent had the tractor for long so dont know if this is the nature of the beast, I had read in the archives that proper level cold is just above the top of the core, to allow for expansion when hot I suppose. Is this what you other N owners experience or should she hold her liquid hot enven when topped up to the cap when cold ?

Don't fill it to the top. It should be filled to about 1" below the filler neck.

If your thermostat is working correctly your coolant temp should be about 160 degrees regardless of work load. When you shut 'er down engine heat soaks into the coolant, making it expand. The coolant surrounding the cylinders and head actually gets hotter immediately after shutdown than it is when it's running and pumping coolant. Consequently, when you shut down, you see temperatures (and fluid volumes) rise and you experience a bit of coolant loss.

I wouldn't worry about it — just don't top it off with more coolant. It will find it's own level where no more coolant is lost — and it will be about 1" (or so) below the filler neck. As long as you're not leaking fluid somewhere else you should not have any more "trouble."

Don't worry bout it Les Tn is correct mine likes to stay right at the top of the core. Don't top it off and keep an eye on it. You will eventually find that it will level of and stop burping.
