Thanks for all the help from the board. This guestion is for Dell. I was reading were you told someone to hook up the 12 volt coil - to the points is this the way mine should be? I have a 12 volt Bat. postive ground and coil and voltage reg.

Paul..... ....the general rule for coil polarity is (-) to (-). And since the commonally used 12 volt alternator is the Delco 10-SI whose solid state gutts absolutely demands 12 volt battery NEGATIVE ground, that means the 12 volt coil (-) terminal is connected to (-) battery ground thru the distributor points.

BUT IF you are using a "stealth" 12 volt genny that is polarized for POSITIVE ground and your 12 volt battery (+) is connected to ground, that would mean you should connect your 12 volt roundcan coil (+) terminal to (+) battery ground thru the distributor points.
