Tried to top up my steering box by removing the steering wheel nut and after I poured fluid in it just stayed there. I tried probing with a #12 steel wire to un-plug whatever passage is there to no avail. Finally I just filled it thru the plug on right side of box. Any one else experience this? According to my manual its supposed to flow over the top bearing and into the box when ya fill this way.

Ha Rick, Hears the deal,The lube could be added through the steering column nut on N's before #216989 and after #452913.The ones in between can only be filled through the plug you mentioned or the upper dash support bolt on the right side(a little easier)If your N dosn't fall between these #'s,the steering box has been swapped.
