Hi Folks,

After owning my bumper-less 49 8N for more than 26 years, I bought an original looking front bumper from TSC today. I had no intention of buying a front bumper for my 8N when I got up this morning, but TSC opened a new store in Griffin a few weeks ago and I went there today for the first time to look around and found the original looking old Ford tractor front bumper. My wife insisted that I buy it; she said it was my father’s day present.

Anyway, I have heard you all talk about Tractor Supply Company (TSC) but there was not one near me until now. You all are right; they have a lot of good tractor stuff, 3-point implements, tools and farm supplies.

I had a homemade angle iron bumper that served the purpose but I have to admit, the old girl does look good with that original looking reproduction N bumper. Best Regards. Rick H. Ga.

I made a bumper for my 8n a few years ago out of 2x4 treated lumber angle iron and flatstock, it still looks good, I keep it painted, its not very strong, but it protects the grill and radiator when running through high brush .

Sounds like a very good idea..
I,m going to have to get one, I've been worrying
I'm going to bump into something and dent mine.
I have a TSC about 35 min from me.
Are they hard to install ? Thanks in advance , Jim

Hi Jim,

I paid $74.99 + tax. I have seen them advertised cheaper but this was a spur of the moment purchase.

The bumper is not difficult to install. The holes in the bumper should line up with the holes in the front axel. The hardest part might be getting the old axel bolts loose. You may have to use a longer bolt because the bumper frame is about a half inch thick. HTH. Rick H. Ga.
