Few days ago a fellah posted on a problem with a dist rotor not seating properly. His dist cap was full of brass powder. Well, I just tried to install a new rotor out of a points/condenser kit from TSC. The rotor wouldn't seat completely. It was 1/16"+ from sliding all the way on to the shaft. Got to looking at it and found another problem. The brass tab that goes out to make contact with the nipples in the cap was riveted on there cock-eyed. Not even close to straight off the end. It's on there real solid too. It shows well even in this poor picture. Got a hunch this rotor would have caused me a few headaches if I had managed to get in on the tractor.

Just for whatever its worth, I purchased a tune-up kit, spark plug wires, coil and another little dude-dad this weekend for my 41 9N at TSC and all of it was made in Tiwann.

Ah yes. The pain of poor quality remains after the joy of a cheap price is gone...

TSC is NOT a bargain outlet. They get top dollar for this stuff. I imagine these parts they sold for $18 would be half the price at another outlet. NAPA is pretty high, higher then FNH for gaskets and such, but TSC is higher then NAPA in many cases. NAPA and CarQuest are closed on Saturday so I went to TSC. I don't bother Advance, Auto Zone, etc for parts and prices on 1944 engines, because they just stand there flat-footed and looking silly. TSC belts, for instance, are two to three times the price I can buy elsewhere. Same way with bearings.
TSC is miles closer then any auto parts store anyway. But believe me, price is not what takes me to TSC, except for bulk prices on nuts and bolts.

I never had that problem with the company in the Carolinas that specializes in parts for these tractors.
