Use regular 90w mineral oil. It has to conform to GL1 spec. I've used NAPA part number 65-205. It's got a great price, and it's the right stuff....
Do not use other GL numbers (like 3, 4, or 5...)
they will ultimatly ruin the seals.

The fluid mentioned in that first post is the fluid sold for equipment that uses the same sump for transmission, rear end, and hydraulics. Some equipment does not have a common sump and does not use the same fluid for all those things. You will generally find the fluid sold for common sump equipment meets Fords MC134-D. I think it's -D. Maybe it's -C. Anyway, its the fluid sold for common sump equipment.
Some guys try to stay with the original recommendation of mineral oil. Thinned with kerosene in the winter. Or some such...sounds like a pain to me.

It's a "D". The D stands for "Defense". It meets Department of Defense specs. Or so I've been told.
