Just bought a JD No. 5 Sickle mower for the 8N. How does this hook up to tractor? It came with what looks as though a draw bar and hook ups for the lifting arms. But when attached to the arms, the pto shaft will not reach the pto on the tractor. Any help or pictures to show correct attachment.

I can't help specifically on a JD 5 mower, but I own a JD 9W and the hook-up isn't exactly intuitive. Before you go buying pto shafts, beg, borrow, or buy an owners manual and make sure you understand how it hooks up. They're available at any JD dealer. The manual is well worth price. It's hard to find a "JD Mower Board" to answer your questions. My manual came with a parts list too. Handy to have. Good Luck. Steve 8N 169302

Sounds like you might have to go to TSC or any other equipment store and buy a longer shaft for the mower to hook up to the pto
