MY FATHER-IN-LAW COULD NEVER FIGURE OUT WHY HIS 8N LACKED POWER AND WAS HARD TOO START. WELL AFTER HE HAS USED IT FOR 3 YEARS LIKE THIS, I FOUND HIS CHOKE SHAFT WAS FROZE 3/4 SHUT. NOW AFTER I CLEANED THE CUP FULL OF JUNK OUT OF IT, I NEED TO KNOW WHERE TO FIND A CARB KIT AND CHOKE SHAFT AND THEY BUTTERFLY FOR THE CHOKE (IT DIDN'T COME APART LIKE WE ALL WISH THEY WOULD). ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. ALSO WHAT ARE THE PRIMARY SETTINGS FOR THIS CARB? THANK YOU

Phillip..... ....most tractor parts emporiums including our N-Board sponsor Yesterdays Tractors sell Marvel/Schebler TSX-241 carb full rebuild kits for about $40. This includes alotta stuff like choke shafts and choke plates and throttle springs. The I&T FO-4 manual has pictures of carb assy as so should the rebuild kit.

CAUTION: ABSOLUTELY make certain your screwdriver fits the screws, otherwize you will break the screwheads off and will be unable to remove the brass screws. The best kind of screwdriver tips are called "gunsmithing screwdrivers" and are hollow ground.

Basic carb settings per Ford, 1-turn idle mixture, 1-turn mainjet. Myself, I set the mainjet 1 1/2 turns and leavitt. Adjust idle mixture for FASTEST idle rpms at about 450 rpms. Fastest not smoothest, ok?..... ....Dell
