I was finally able to make a purchase at a local auction house, here in the Gettysburg area.

Upon doing some research, I learned that the water pump was invented in 1912, at least the household variety.

Well, I purchased her. She showed the normal wear and tear from the service that she provided all those years. Looked normal to me.

Now I have to decide whether to doll-her-up and keep her, or, just show her "as-is" at the next tractor show at the Latimore Fair Grounds on June 20th and 21st.

Last week-end the single lunger engines at the Kutztown show didn't seem to have anything to do except "look pretty".

Dell, maybe you would care to show some light as to what colors to paint my water pump if I should decide to doll-her up.

At least here, we have our farm, 9N, and our water pump. It seems like the local politicians have noth'n except "headaches" until the general election.

Thanks, Dell. Later, John

We were at the Kutztown show on Friday. Of course, that was the scheduled "first day", therefore, they were just sett'n up in hopes for great weekend "gala event".

I hope that they didn't have too much rain over SAT and Sun. Like always, inclimate weather can play havoc on expectations.

I noticed, on the "show calender" on the left side of my computer screen, right now, the Kutztown show was featuring FORDS.

Well from approx. 11:00 am till we left, at 4:oo PM, there were only 3 or 4 Fords there, 1 FERRGI, and the rest were the norms, JD's, Cases, and others that I can't rember, not that I want to discredit the show.

But it was a good day. A day that we will remember for next year.

I know what it is like for the vendors. I hope that they all did well.

So, we always count on the FOOD service first. It was not bad. Should always serve CHICKEN CORN SOUP! especially in DUTCHMAN country.

The most exciting thing that I saw was a tiny "pot-belly" stove with a long smokepipe on the back of one of the pickups owned by one of the "single-lungers" display. Shure was cute. He intended to stay warm with it, and, most importantly, as campers, he was going to use it to make his breakfast the next morning. Hope the rain didn't crack the cast iron. Sorta reminded me of the days when I used to hitch rides on the L&N railroad cabooses, when I was younger, traveling the SOUTHERN routes.

Well, I hope all this helps. Like I said, shure was a good day. My lady friend liked the Renninger's Flea Market place too.

The show guide was wrong. While at Kutztown show, I conversed with a vendor. He said that the Latimore Show was a week later than the guides showed.

He, the vendor, called the show people at Latimore to set-up his schedule while he was in Florida doing the Flywheeler Show, there.

John..... ...I really wouldn't have a clue as to what color to paint your new "old water pump". Rust? (grin). I've seen 'em firengine red, midnite black, JD Green. Heres what'll happen, painter any color that pleases you and putt'er on display and there'll be a dozen ol'timers come by and tell you you've got the "wrong" color. Next year, display your water pump in the "official colors" and there'll be 'nuther dozen ol'foggies tell ya yer new colors are wrong. (grin)..... ...Dell

i AM JUST SOOOOO OOO PLEASED with the acquisition that for about 1 yr, I will probably do not'n except look at her.

You know, when it gets personal, like a person's water, a fist fight might erupt over such a minor thing as her glamour, I think I will just put her on a shelf inh the shed and think just how lucky I am in having a stand-by "alternate" just to water the garden, if noth'n else.

Thanks again, Dell.

PS" Someth'n 'bout cylinders and pistons. Need some time to desyfer, anyhow.

Some of those people that go to shows get real defensive, and take everything you say like a personal attack.

I went to an antique engine / tractor show earlier this year, and saw a guy with some fergies there... As i was walking around them, I said "nice tractors.. very similar to my fords.."... the old guy about dropped his beer, jumped up and said.. "you mean your fords are a ripped off design of these fergies..."

I ended the conversation there and walked away... knew there would be nothing gained by talking to that crab...

Thanks. I just started read'n the data plate on my new acquisition. Guess what, it is a FORD pump. About 1920 vintage. Just like the one we had back on the farm house. So, unless I ever see a FERGIE pump, I will still stay with the FORDS.

Whenever I go to a tractor show, I always take along a small micrometer, just in case I git excited 'bout someth'n. Generally, I can end conversations by simply reach'n into my pants pocket and pull out my mic. Seems to work, so far.
