I drove up to north AL and picked up a 2n yesterday. You may have seen it for sale on ebay. The tractor has a sherman transmission I think. It has a lever on the right side under the steering arm that flips forward for fast speeds. Is this a sherman step up?
I pulled the tractor 300 miles thru the foot hills with a four cylinder mazda pickup. The truck was very over loaded but made it without any problems. However, it was a very stressful trip as you can probaly imagin.

I had a stressful trip like that recently, but looking back on it, I wouldn't trade it for the world!! My oldest son went with me to pick up a dozer. The trip there was uneventful, but after picking up the dozer, the charging system on my truck quit working, then a flat on the trailer. An overnight stay, and one battery later, we made it home, but the fellowship I gained with my son was priceless.

That Mazda must have great breaks ( dont know about your trailer ) I take it you stayed off the Interstate or the state HP would have stopped you, Im thinking that 4 banger bogged down a lot going up hill .

I have a small trailer with a large single axle. Most of the weight is on the trailer axle and air shocks on the truck made for a smooth ride. Scary.

Rusty..congrats on the new tractor....if the lever is on the right as your sittin in the seat...its most likely a "Hupp" Transmission...and from what I understand it is a "step-up" tranny...
