I am looking for a PTO seal for a 1940 9N, I can find them for newer model but not as old as 1940. Anyone have any ideas of a part number and where to get one???

Thanks

Robert. I know the seals ARE available at a New Holland dealer. So you don't haffta spend $140 for a new assembly like Dell suggests. For $18, you can have it fixed. Here's some great info from Tyler(MD)out of the archives.

Having just checked with TSC, .. they don't carry the internal pto shaft for a 9n... that is what we are talking about right? Or am I missing something here?

And luckly Jack posted the correct answer or I'd be padding tsc's pockets with lot's of my money because of Dell's wrong answer.

Been seeing alot of that lately?

I thought we were talking about the tractors pto shaft.. the one that drives the pump, etc.. if so, TSC -doesn't- carry it... If we are just talking about a generic pto shaft that goes from the tractor to the mower.. then ya.. they carry some.

I'm assuming that former ( tractor internal pto shaft ) is what dell was refering to.

Your local New-Holland (was Ford) dealer still sells them part# 9N727.

Robert..... ....sometimes things just are NO LONGER AVAILABLE (NLA) and early 9N pto seals appear to be one of them.

If the leaking bothers you..... ..Byte the Bullett..... ..replace your OLD 1 1/8 PTO shaft assy with the MODERN 1 3/8 PTO shaft assy and you'll get new modern no leak pto seals and a stronger PTO shaft. Its a 15 minute 4-bolt drop-in job if you park your tractor front axle inna ditch so you don't have to drain 5 gals of hydro-tranny oil.

Arn't you lucky, your 9N's pto shaft is fully interchangeable with the later 8N's pto. And you don't need to use any adaptors anymore eather..... ....respectfully, Dell
