I went to set the lower trans shaft end play and found that I still have play with all the shims (7135) removed. I assume this means the bearings (7066) need to be replaced. Is this true? If I have to replace the bearings do I also have to replace the outer races (7067) ? How do I get the front bearing off the lower housing? I got the back bearing off easily. Also, if the outer races need replacement, any instructons on how to get them out?
I haven't even tried the upper shaft yet.

Rick,i can help you, what are you doing with this trans?
new bearing?
seals and gasket?
iam not a mind reader as Dell would say.
i'll shoot in the dark here.
OK no shims on bottom shaft and still have play are right did you tighten down the bearing retainer when you did this? makes a big differance
as for the races got to get a slide puller and pull them out EASY with right tool!
if you replace races the front is easery with it still mounted to trans and then knock out retainer
this on the bottom shaft
another lesson learned here not being smart but when the trans was built the lower shaft goes first, then the upper shaft!! NOW for disasemble the upper shaft comes out first then the lower shaft, does this make sense (YES)please post back will try to help BOB

Yes, the transmission had a whine so i took it completly apart. Now i am checking it out and beginning to reassemble. Installed lower shaft and did tighten down both ends. The front with its thin paper gasket and the rear with no shims (it had 3, the thickness i cant remember right now). I could feel lots of end play, estimate 1/16". So now i figure the bearings need replacing. The races too, I guess, i do not know if u replace races and bearings together or not. Also, what does this inside puller look like, where do i get the right tool? how do i get the front bearing off- press it off along with the gear(7113) I appreciate your help.
