I have grease leaking around the center of my 8N wheel around the center nut. The brake works fine and there is no sign of grease on the inside of the wheel. I know I need to replace the outer seal but I'm not sure what else. This is one part of the tractor I've never taken apart so I'm not sure what I'm getting into. I would like to have all parts needed before I dig in. From your experience what would you suggest I get? I've got some rear woble too so is this a good time to add some shims and correct the problem? All suggestions and instruction will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

If you have wobble in the rear wheels, and the axle nut is tight ( 450 ft/lbs ), you may need new axles as well as hubs. Axle is a tapered spline, if splines are worn, new hubs may not tighten up.

Ha Rock, Sounds like you have a worn hub. When it wears it will no longer tighten against the axle which lets it leak at the nut and ruins the outer seal.I'd fix both while you're in there. The bad hub is the source of you're wobble. But you will still need to adj. the bearings.Go to 8nford.com(Smith's) and click on FAQs,click on how do I change rear axle seals.hth
