OK guys, call me a cheapscape if u like. Part of the fun in restoring old mechanical things for me is the investigative work that goes into it. I am replacing the bearings in my 9N transmission. The Ford part numbers are 7066, cone and roller assy; 7067, cup; and 7120,bearing assy. The manufacture of the bearings I removed are Bower BT25877; Bower BT25820; and Bower BT15385 respectively. The question is, Do any of you know the Mfgr and number for replacement bearings?

Rick-- go to or call your nearest bearing supply house with the bower numbers. they have lots of cross reference catalogs and should be able fix you up with the right bearings, bower or another brand of the same size. good luck.

Bower is made by Federal-Mogul. The little numbers on the bearing hub should give the dimensions so that you can use any number of mfgs' products. Check with industrial suppliers like Motion Industries.

I too, learned that bearings of all types can be bought at bearing houses for considerably less than what they cost from the so-called "manufacturer". It seems so obvious, but have you tried just matching them up. This has worked for me a number of times. I've been told that bearings are manufactured in 5 grades and identified by a letter designation. Automotive type bearings are not of the highest quality, in fact they are pretty far down on the list. Rich
