I know! I know! Who was stupid enough to buy the thing in the first place? Not me! One of my friends did it. The Devil made him do it! A fifty horse tractor with all the equipment for $800.

Now the gear shifter alignment pin in the shifter lever is broken and it is hard to get it shifted into the desired gear without getting it into two gears etc or even getting it in gear at all sometimes. It doesn't help that he is about blind from diabetes complication either. He is just still struggling to be active.

Anyway I am trying to help him get the thing fixed so he can bush hog with it. I know! I know! Dangerous huh?

Do any of you know where I might find a dealer who would have the pin for the shifter lever? He tells me that it is the same as some other foreign makes with American sounding names like AC and Oliver?????

Any help is appreciated.

Long tractors are still alive and well . We have several dealers in our area ( central North Carolina ) . You should be able to find one not too far from you .

My guess is the tractor is a late 1970's vintage . I have a buddy who has one he bought new . It has a Fiat diesel engine made under licsense in Romania . They are really good tractors . You get a lot of bang for your buck !

Try Longagribusiness .

Good Luck !

DON'T FIX IT. If he hurts himself or someone else cause he can't see you'll never forgive yourself.
Just keep tinkering with it. That will give him something to do. If your a good friend do his brush hogging for him. Just a thought///////////

I was looking at a Long at PA Ag Days a couple of years back, the salesman clained they were build from 70/80 Ford tooling, I then noticed the Mitsuhbishi engine and lost interest. I have no idea if the guy knew what he was talking about. Last I heard Ken Sweet of Sweets Farm Equipment in KY was still selling Longs, he may have some parts.

Zane,

You can go to the web site www.longagribusiness.com and you should find a dealer near you. There is a Long dealer in Conyers Ga. called Wilson Tractors that might be of some help. HTH. Rick H. Ga.
