I installed new rear axles, bearings, and seals on my 8N. I decided to slip on the new hub (dry run) just to make sure everything looked ok. I noticed that the hub looks as though it will be very close to touching the bearing retainer - especially when I torque it. Is it possible that the hub could rub against the retainer? Should I worry about this? Thanks so much for the help.

When the axle and hub are new or in like new condition the hub is very close to rubbing on the retainer (it has about .100" clearance. When the hub and/or axle gets worn, the hub DOES rub against the retainer. You should be ok.
