My 8n 1952/504556 bought brand new in 1952 by my father seems to have unusual OEM (sorry no electronic picture to show now) front head lamps because I have not seen any similar head lamp on any picture in the history books or in the photo section(one clear and typical front view picture for the 8n 1952 is presented by Scott1ky from KY, photo section). The head lamp has a bolt under the head lamp holder(yes, under) that is fixed on an angular bracket which is itself attached to the hood side panel. Any similar setup on your late 8n ? If it is not unusual, at what serial number were they introduced ? Thanks

Hi Soundguy,
8n 504556 was sold to my father in Quebec City, Canada, in 1952.

RLach..... ....since ALL headlights were DEALER INSTALLED, there is no telling who made what and was installed on what serial number tractor. Just like the dealer installed Sherman Aux tranny, no tellin'..... ...Dell

Thanks for the explanations; the missing link was : all head lamps were installed by dealers, not OEM as I belived. Apparently there was a supplier that sold a kit to canadian dealers only. A different lighting kit was offered for 8n and NAA in Ford Dearborn catalog. I was misleaded.

Hey Rlach-
I believe you have aftermarket Canadien versions. I had a pair on my early 8N which came from the original owner in Canada. I have seen these around so they are not rare, but who made them is another question. The lens is held into the "door" or bezel, by ( 3 ) spring clips. The wire comes thru the housing, not a hollow bolt. They mount to pie-shaped wedgy brackets that mount to the upper doglegs. Give me a shout and I'll send you some pictures of them and you can verify if we are talkiN' turkey here.

Those brackets seem to be unique to Canada from what I can tell. I have a print from Ottawa that shows them fairly well. It is at the bottom of my web home page.

Well, just found 2 of them in the tractor photo gallery !
1951 8n, by Paul Twehues from Ky, obtained from Canada; Also 1950 8n w/cab left side view by Stuart K from ON; The 8n 504556 was sold in Canada in 1952.
