Put a timing light on my 51 8n last night. Marked the flyheel on the 4 degree spot. Started the tractor and could not find the mark. I had to move the distributor about an inch and a half clockwise to get on the mark. I believe this means it was retaded by a bunch. A'm I right.
How come she ran just fine if it was so retarded.

How's it running now? Did moving the distributor make it run better or worse or the same? Does it start easier, have any more power or what?

I didn't have a chance to run the tractor around after timing it to see what difference it made. I will put her through the paces tonight and report back tomorrow.
