My father-in-law gave me his '51 8n after I got it home I noticed that the engine block is blue.
The rest of the tractor is red and gray like it is supposed to be.He claimed that the engine was worked on by his neighbor but it wasn't totally replaced.Any ideas why the block is blue?

Like Rick said, no significance to blue. It's blue for the same reason my '52 8N was blue and gray. Somebody had probably tryed to make the tractor look like it was a newer model. You can ignore it or paint it. Your call !

"Blue" is what happens to my fingernails when I have hard luck with the hammer.... You could wait a while & see if it grows out....Who really knows what the neighbor did....

I guess you could get out the fingernail polish, er... paint.... and make it, well, red. Have fun, anyway!!! duey

It is the paint the mechanic happened to have. The more recent fords, way after the N series, were blue. Seriously, I cannot imagine any significance to the color blue.
