Question for you Zane? When I flush the hydro out with kerosene do I leave the plug in or leave it out. Will some Kerosene get into the rest of the oil resivoir if I just drain the hydro? Do I drain the oil completely out of the tractor then fill it with kerosene? Please give me the 1,2,3 steps. I want to try this.

As far as the return spring goes; How can I tell if it is worn out. How hard is it to replace?

Andy, Not Zane but here is how I did it. I drained all the fluid out and replaced the drain plugs, poured about three gallons of kerosene into the inspection port hole while the PTO was turning to really get it going. I used one of those long funnels for transmission fluid on cars. I then let it run like that for about five minutes although longer wouldn't have hurt. I worked the control lever up and down while the PTO was turning. Kerosene splattered out a bit onto the muffler so some smoke was produced from the little droplets hitting the hot muffler. So exercise caution when pouring the kerosene in there through the inspection port hole. After that I drained all the kerosene out and refilled with 90 wt. gear oil. Good luck.

That is what I did also. However, I used deisel in place of kero. Worked great for me.
