Got a flat last week and the poor old tire was so bad it would'nt take another patch,so off to TSC for a new one.Well I got it home and mounted it but it would not come all the way onto the bead in several spots. I was in a hurry to get back to work so I did'nt do a real good job of cleaning up the Really nasty rim, so I figured it must be hung up on rust and crap. Today I dismounted it and cleaned the rim just as shiney as can be,lubed the heck out of it with dish detergent and put it all back together same problem not as bad but there is still about a 4 inch section that is not seated properly. Right now it is sitting in the garage with about 60# of pressure in a max 35# tire. The rim is straight and true the tire has no visible defect. The tire is a Firestone 4 ply tri rib. Is this a problem? Bad Tire possibly? Will it maybe loosen up with use and slide on? I would hate to have to break it all down again orhave to return the tire as TSC is thirtyseven mile drive. Any suggestions?

Spray a little silicone on the rim and tire wall. Armorall will work if you get the air back in before it dries. You have to deflat the tire to get it all over the rim.

Pitch: Take the wheel off of the tractor, put the correct pressure in,lay it flat on the floor and hit it with a rubber mallet on the sidewall where it is low.Don't be afraid to hit it. Will

I'd set it in the sun and hope the heat would let it stretch a little. You might let some air out and air it up again, repeat. See if you get any progress that way. HTH

Ok success at last. I tried all the remedies except the armor all with no results so I lowered the air so that the sidewalls had a good bit of flex to them and took a ride down the washboard that passes for a road here for about a mile I then pumped it back up to 35# and gained a little so then I took another mile ride hitting every bump I could find and viola it seated itself. The method was unorthodox but you can't argue with success.

Don't know why but the proper tire lube is a 'vegetable' soap. I looked around and found I didn't want or need vegitable soap in the quanities purchased by tire shops. I found ONE vegitable soap at the supermarket and it was less then a dollar. They had one brand, the rest were animal soaps or detergents.
Kirks's Original Coco Castile. That bar will probably last my life and my son's too. I grate it with the cheese grate, mix it with some water and off I go changing tires like the pros. Have no idea why the pros call for and use 'vegitable' soap.

I've stopped at a tire shop where I buy my vehicle tires with a small container, and they've "lent" me more RUBBERLUBE than I'm likely to ever need.
