What should the resistance be across the ignition ballast resister? I read .5 ohms on mine(With wires disconnected). This seems a little low to me - almost a short(0 ohms). I am almost ready to fire-up after overhaul. I'm just checking every thing out. Thanks, Rick(Ga)

Thanks for the info.. and pardon me for the mis-spelling of resistor. Rick(Ga)

Yes, that is at about 25C. These resistors have a positive temperature coefficient. What that means, is that as the current through the resistor heats the resistance wire, the resistance will increase. The correct way to measure resistance would be to take 2.5 amps using a current regulated supply and after a few minutes measure the voltage drop across the resistor. I did this once, but forgot what the increase in resistance was. (This was a day that I had nothing else to do) The purpose of using a positive temp coefficient material is to supply a little more current to the coil while it is cold. Happy Motoring
