Ronnie. On the left side of this posting, under Research & Info. click on Articles, then type in Brush Hog and click on search. Read the articles previously posted about brush hogs. Good reading and informative. Good luck and safe tractoring. Ron

Ronnie, Your 9N should handle a 5' cutter with no problem regardless of light or medium duty assuming your hydraulics are reasonably good. I think most of these cutters are less than 500 lbs. Anything over 600 lbs your front end is going to be light. I've been running a 5' Howse for 13 years with no problems.

Be sure you have an over-run coupler attached to your PTO - MANDATORY!

Also, the 9N doesn't have position control hydraulics, so you will need to have support chains of some type to position the cutter at the desired cutting height.

Hope this helps, and welcome to the N-crowd...John A

I have an 8N and a 5 footer works well with it. Make sure you have an ORC.

I have a 4 foot Bush Hog that I pull with a Ferguson TO20. Mostly mow trails and old logging roads and opted for the smaller size so I would have enough power to operate in heavy brush and grass. The 9N may have more power, sounds as though many have good luck with the 5 footer.
