Roger..... .....ya gotts yer tranny in 2-gears at the same time. 8N's have a removeable tranny shifter top plate. But there are some spring loaded parts that can go sproing so becarefull in removeing the top plate.

Its not rocket science, but close to brain surgery (grin). Get out your I&T FO-4 manual ($27 cheap). There is probably some worn/bent part on the shifter plates that ONLY YOU can find by inspection. Generally speaking, you haven't damaged the tranny gears, just the shifter plates..... ....Dell

Roger..... ...ya didn't look deep enuff..... If'n yer still locked up, then ya gotts something stuck between some gear teeth. You are your OWN INSPECTOR.

Most likely, you'll haffta drain yer 5 gals of hydro-tranny oil to be able to see under all that oil. Drain yer square diffy plug first 'cuz it'll pee innna buckett with some amount of accuracy. You might NOT need to finish draining the 3" tranny plug, but I would just to make certain that you don't have any chunks down at the bottom of the tranny case..... .....Dell

Will the tractor roll with the clutch pedal down?

Can you let out the clutch pedal in neutral without it stalling? If so, the tranny isn't locked up. Make sure your PTO is disengaged.

motor stalls when clutch is let out in neutral or any gear. pto is disengaged and turns freely.

Like Dell said, you're in more than one gear at the same time. Take the cover, and with a pry bar, (and very GENTLE persuasion) pull all the forks into neutral. Then look into what caused it to happen.
