We had a rain storm which flooded my garage.Tractor parts all got mud sediment on them and rusted the head. What can I do to remove rust from head and clean the gen and starter.Thanks Roy

If it's just surface rust, use a power wire brush or pressure wash the parts and thoroughly dry them them. I can't imagine they stayed in the water long enough to result in scales or pitting. The electroysis method does a good job of removing rust, but I don't know if I'd use it on the head. Should be fine for other parts.

You'll have to disassemble the generator and starter and clean them. You could spray them down with WD-40 to displace the moisture, then use a solvent, like electrical contact cleaner(they used to use carbon tetrachloride, but I think it's been banned)to remove the WD-40. Blow out all the moisture you can with air and let them parts dry in the sun(or use a blow-dryer?) for several hours so any ambient moisture trapped can evaporate.
