I'm in the process of restoring my 8N. I've just completed rebuilding the transmission, steering, and rear end. I have also never done any of this before. Since I also own a TO-20, I, of course, have a Ferguson Shop Manual. I can say without hestitation that the Ferguson manual has been invaluable in rebuilding my 8N thus far. It is almost twice the size of the FO-4 manual. By way of comparison, for example, the the FO-4 manual has 7 pages and 9 photos/diagrams covering the transmission. The Ferguson manual devotes 10 pages and contains 28 photos/diagrams on the transmission. Although the 8N and TO-20 are not identical, they are remarkably similar. For those of you who are novices, like me, I highly recommend the purchase of the Ferguson Manual as an additional reference source when working on an 8N. Just wanted to share.

Thanks for sharing, Rick. My father-in-law had a Ferguson TO-20 and we often talked about how similar his TO-20 was to my 8N. His lift seemed a lot stronger than my 8N lift at the time. Rick H. Ga.
