coolant is full.any ideas on what broke.dist turns and seems to be on time.

thanks,robert

My 8n was doing the same thing Pull the valve side covers and watch the valves. mine where sticky they would go up but woukd take their time comeing back down soaked with p.b.blaster and m.m.o. untill they would follow the cam then I got the compression back. see if that works for you ..... ....Jer

If the crank was broke as Dell says I wouldn't expect your valves would be moving since the starter drives the rear of the crank and the cam is driven off the front of the crank. Not to say the crank couldn't be intermittely driving the cam. How did you measure compression? Blowing air out of the carb does suggest a cam timing problem or a stuck valve. No compression in any of the cylinders also suggest a cam timing problem. Pulling the head is a start to find out what might be going on.

Robert, It sound like the crank has gone out of sinc with the cam. Your answer lies under the timing cover. Dave.

No compression. Did you actualy use a comp. gauge? Since you said you have air coming out of the carb I don't think you broke a crank. Check compression with a gauge wet and dry. Should be about 100 or so dry another 10 or so wet. You might have a stuck intake valve letting compression through the manifold into the carb.

Robert..... ....takes 3 things to make an engine run. 1) sparkies at the right time
2) fuel at 12:1 ratio
3) compression

Since you've already confessed that you have NO COMPRESSION, seems you've already answered your question, why your N-won't run.

What happened that you haven't shared with us?

Gotta feeling you AIN'T GONNA LIKE THIS ANSWER..... ..sounds like you just might have BROKE YOUR CRANKSHAFT..... To check, yer gonna haffta pull your cylinder head to watch the pistons go up and down..... ....respectfully, Dell
