Hi All,

I had a little fun this past weekend (which is something I don’t get a chance to do often). My son needed a backhoe to dig some holes for a perk test on some land he is looking at purchasing. He got a few prices to hire it done which ranged from $150 (and wait 2 weeks) to $250 (could do it on Sunday). In an effort to help him out I suggested we go in together and rent a backhoe. So, we rented a late model New Holland backhoe/front end loader from the local NH dealer for $236 for 8 hours of use. He dug his test holes and I played with it for 5 hours. I have always wanted to operate a backhoe and front-end loader but have never had the opportunity. I found out it is not as easy as it looks. I started digging a storm drainage retention pond in my pasture. Looks like I’ll rent it again when I get some time (and extra $). Rick H. Ga.

Yep, I know what ya mean. If it wasn't my Mom hollering at me for using her silverware for escaviting the backyard, I'ld never had my Dad buy me a real Tonka Toy to work with. Do you think the same concept will work with the wife today? If I were to take the spoons out to work the back yard, would she buy me a big toy to play with???? HMMMMM MMMMM.

I know what you mean rich. i have a hopto back hoe that pulls behind my 8 n like a trailer and is driven by the pto shaft. it has an 18" bucket and digs really well. only problem is it drags my tractor around a little cause my brakes need work, but other than that it is fun. i got my 2000.00 dollars worth with all the digging i've done. cya
