Ran my 'N' with 90wt oil in tranny/hydrol/diff. for 9 years (no problems), and then decided to "do the right thang" and drained it all out this past March and replaced it with the imfamous***134** multi-purpose oil. I don't use the tractor much. Probably have one hour on the new oil. But When I loaded it on a trailer today, I noticed leakage from under the left Trumpet where the lift attaches. I checked the oil and there wasn't any showing on the dipstick. I'm hoping that I can remove the pto shaft and reach my arm in far enough to tighten the lift arm pin to at least slow the leakage down. I'm sure not looking forward to tearing this thing down at this time just to replace a bad gasket.

Ron,
I think you've found one of the side benefits of the NH 134 oil when used in an N, has it caused any other problems with your 3 point's lifting power. I ran across a 9N that quit working when the 134 was used and returned to normal when the owner put the 80/90 wt back in. Good luck.

Hi Ron of Ohio. What Dell said make sense. However, you may want to consider going back to the heavier oil. Safe tractoring. PS: Are you the Ron in Ohio with the Bed and Breakfast? Ron from the U.P.

I'm thinking that the heavier oil might slow it down, but someday I still have to fix it. Sorry, I'm not the Ron with the B&B. I was in Michigan (near Travers City) a month ago. Bought a Ford 961 while there. Thanks for the info...Ron

RoN..... .....unless ya gotts the skinny arms of a 9 yo girl, ain't NO MAN I know can reach thru the PTO hole and tighten the lower link pin to 150 ft/lbs.

And if your lowerlink pin leaked enuff oil to dissapear off your tranny oil dipstick (thats about 1 gallon worth of oil leakin' on the ground under your tractor. 1 gallon of oil would be a BIG PUDDLE.

There is always the chance that loading your tractor, ya could have slopped your oil out your rearaxle trumpet mouths and soaked your brakes.

Me, I'd just top off the tranny oil and get the dipstick wet and watch for puddles..... ...Dell
