No matter if I'm using draft or position control, everytime I raise the quadrant lever, the implement comes up and then drops back down. Even if I only raise the quadrant lever part way. With my brush hog, if it comes up another half inch the mower shaft will bind on the deck. To close for comfort. I have tried loosening the bolts and adjusting the quadrant. No external leaks, no noise, holds heavy implements all day long. What's up I'm stumped.
Thanks for any input. I have learned more about this great little tractor from this web site then I ever thought possible. You guys are great. Oh yeah it's a 1951.

not normal. You need to remove the hydraulic cover and inspect the cam follower pin and adjust the linkage including the control spring and the draft control springs. Make sure the control is straight. A lot of them have been bent accidentally or purposefully to compensate for wear. If the linkage is adjusted and the cam follower pin is renewed, the control valve may need replacing or the valve seat may need attention.
