My '52 N overheated while mowing a week ago, now there is oil in the radiator. There also seems to be a loss of power. I believe this would indicate a blown head gasket, but wanted to ask here to be sure. If that is the problem, should I have the head milled prior to re-installing it? Any other suggestions as to what should be done while the head is removed? Thanks in adavance, RON.

Ron..... ....what Salmoneye sez..... .and.....
before you pull ANY cylinder head, ALWAYS check the compression. Compression gauges $10+ (cheap). Compression reading will tell you if you have a blown headgasket. But combustion by-products (oily film on radiator water) is pretty good indicator of blown headgasket..... ....Dell

Try a new metal gasket without milling first...Torque in the correct pattern as per FO-4 manual and then retorque after a few hours run time...

Some people have reported that after milling the valvs can hit the head...The small flat head should come back to 'true' if torqued correctly...
