Dell, I've had it with my battery not charging up. I have the two wire delco Alt. which is like a windmill with no wind. I don't what to have to change it to six volt so what kind of 3 wire Alt. do I need to get. Their is nothing wrong with the elect. system just don't have the rpm's to change the battery unless I run wide open all the time.

Allan..... ...use the 3-wire Delco 10-SI 12 volt alternator.

Wire P-1 (EXCITE) to the ignition switch ON terminal thru an "idiot light" like General Motors does it. Most use a trailer clearance light assy because it comes with 2 wires already built-in and eazy to install anywhere. You really don't need to watch the idiot light because you have an AMMETER.

Wire the alternator BIG OUTPUT stud to your battery charge tie-point. (lotta guys use the same stud as the starter battery stud (don't use the starter motor stud)

THEN (and I think this is your problem) wire P-2 (SENSE) to the BIG STUD on back of alternator..... ....Dell

Try a smaller pully on the alternator.
