i took the hub off my 9n front axle, and found i couldnt remove the inside bearing,or the seal. do you pound anything, do you pound from the inside of the hub against the bearing , will this push th seal out. even if i dammage the bearings , im getting new ones anyway. it just doesnt seem possible to pound anything toward the inside of the hub . also there is a bearing cup that the bearings ride in, They are not at all damaged. or do i just wack those outward too. i am mostly worried about the hub and putting a crack in it. Someone please help. or if this a job for a mechanic. just how hard is it to get a inside seal out of a 9n. once again to get inside bearing and dirt seal out do i beat on the bearings and hope the inner dirt seal comes out with it. or do i try and get the bearing cup to come with it aswell. thanks for your help in advance . allan b. i didnt mention i have had no trouble with the outside bearings,or cup,

Real easy way - remove the castle nut, washer, and outer bearing, then screw the castle nut back on the spindle. Slide the hub outward rapidly. The nut will catch inside the inner bearing and the hub will come off leaving the inner bearing and grease seal hanging on the spindle for you. If the seal is really tight you may have to whack it a couple of times to get it loose. Works great.

I found a simple seal puller (looks like a weird hatchet with a handle) at Harbor Freight for $4.95. works wonders and you have it for next time.

Hammer on that thing hard as you want to. You are not going to crack or break the hub. It is not cast iron it is drop forged steel and will take a licking and keep on ticking. Henry did use some good stuff to make these little tractor!

Strike the inner beaing to drive it and the seal out the back. There are recesses in behind the bearing races that are there specifically to use a punch in to drive out the old bearing race if you need to get it out.
