Took my "renovated" 9N out to do some serious shredding today. I had bought this tractor after it had been sitting for about 5 years. Got it running, easy starting, seemed good. After working about 20 minutes, it started overheating. I don't know if it had too much debri on the radiator or if the thermostat was not opening. I'm not sure where the thermostat is located. The second problem is fuel starvation, I could only get a bare trickle into the sediment bowl from the tank. I know I have to drain the tank, but how do I clean all the sediment out of it.

You said your tractor was over heating.....
You might want to explain a little more.
Since you seem a little new at this, could it be that you had your radiator filled to the top and when the liquid started to expand that it shoved some out the top?

Normally, the coolant level runs a couple inches down from the top of the radiator.
When you work the machine, it will shove fluid out the top because of expansion till it gets to the level it likes and then it will stay there.

Thermostat( if it has one) is in the top radiator hose.
Normally, the fuel shut off valve has a screen over the prob that goes up into the fuel tank and there is also a screen in the fuel bowl top.
Sounds like you need to clean these.
Of course, before you unscrew the fuel shut off assembly, you'll have to get all the fuel out of the tank.
You will still get some more when you remove the shut off valve, so be prepared with a can to catch this fuel.
Use all safty precautions ie: engine cold, out doors, away from sparks and flames etc.
A new shut off valve is between $20 and $30, and I think I would just put a new one in while I had it out.
There also is a screen in the elbow that your fuel line screws into on the carb.
You might as well check this while your working on the other end of the fuel system.
