Mowing under the pecan trees this weekend the water pump bearings began to complain and now the shaft wobbles badly and make a racket. Interesting I'm not getting any leaks. It looks like a tight fit around the radiator, but has anyone replaced the pump and fan without pulling the hood? A tight fit like the front mount distributor?

Hmm, things were going great ( without radiator or hood removal ) untill new pump slipped out of my hand and punched a hole in the radiator, a rather large piece of cardboard would have saved a lot of grief . Live and learn .

Raider I replaced my waterpump first without removing my radiator or hood. You will have to be careful with the radiator fins.I later replaced my radiator. It was tougher without removing the hood I guess but both can be replaced without removing it..Good Luck...R.M. In AL.

Hi Red Raider. I replaced my 9N pump a little over a year ago without taking off the radiator. I did take out the oil filler pipe which made it easier. Getting to the bolts wasn't too bad. Had it off withing minutes. Cleaned everything up and spray painted the attachments and put it back on. All told, probably a couple of hours, which included looking everything over first. I put the filler pipe back in with some Red gasket material. Solid as a rock. Good luck. Ron

Thank you, gents. I'd better get a piece of cardboard to cover the radiator fins.

Red Raider. Where are you located that you are mowing under the Pecan trees. I believe it is pronounced PUCAN isn't it? Ron
