Hey Gang-
How many of you run your N-Series with a thermostat? How many run without, and why? I don't see any reason to use one, personally.

Tim

I can think of two reasons...

1. Lack of understanding of the benefits of keeping the engine at constant temperature. (reduced wear, and increased economy)

2. Not wishing to turn it over to the next owner in good condition.

You have to run a thermostat so that the heater will work in cold weather.....

Seriously, the thermostat keeps the engine in a more consistent heat range. This translates to better combustion, less plug fouling. The N cooling system is over-sized. if you have overheating problems it's more likely because the radiator or block is clogged.
