i listened to all of your write-ins, there is nothing like having all that experience out there. first i turned the steering wheel all the way to the right and then counted how many turns it took to get it all the way over, then did the same turning it all the way back over all the way. divided the total turns it took into two. then tied the steering wheel so it wouldnt move. i then straightened the wheels by turning the links to the tie-rods. i also used the string from the rear tires to the front so i knew i had a straight line on both sides. next i measured the distance hub high, between the wheels on the front of the front tires ,and also the rear of the front tires. then toe-in a total of 1/4". took it out still pulled slightly. check brakes. right side was too tight. took it out better yet. next checked air in all four. back tires one 16 psi, other 6psi, front tires.right 7psi. left 40psi. so with all your input , each one of you , you were all right. but i wanted to do it one thing at a time, so i would know how much each would effect the problem. i would have to say it was a little of each. but i would not have had much for tires left if it werent for you. what made me start on this when the tractor drove perfectly straight without holding onto the steering wheel. my front left tire was getting eaten up on one side after only driving on pavement about 30 miles , after checking, i found out the left front tire was 3inches tow-out. now everything is straight. no pulling with the slight exception of the crown in the road. and i did drive on the left side of the road which made it go perfectly straight, no hands. even on the right side i dont really need to correct it much. so thanks again everyone

i almost had to pull the steering arms by the wheel, because i was running out of threads on the rod end. it definately was close. but then i think i would have checked out the bushings and what-ever that is in there for wear. again , thanks for everything, this is quite a forum. and the help is so fast. what a country. thanks , allan b.

i went according to a chart i found in yesterdays tractors for the size on the rear of my tractor which is 11x28 rear, 14 psi. and the front is 6.00x16 the psi is 20. also on the tire sidewall there is a maximum tire pressure. but for most purposes.especially in winter its better to have the lower recommended psi for better traction.

Allan, Thanks for posting back, others will benifit from your post. Your approach to solving this problem, was very methodical and commendable! BTW, what are you running for tire pressure now?
