I have a 2N with a dearborn loader and vickers external pump. I would like to find a log splitter that I could mount on the forks and use the existing hydraulics. Any input is appreciated, thanks.

Rot,

If it were me, I'd look for a separate, self-powered log splitter. The hassles of hooking up a splitter to the tractor and the fact that it would then be dedicated to the splitter (rather than being able to use the tractor to help move the logs around, haul the splits, etc.) would outweigh the benefits, I think, of an attached unit. I have a chipper/shredder that mounts to the 3-point, and while it works O.K., if I had it to do again, I'd opt for a self-powered unit just for the versatility.

JMHO

Good luck!

Ron

I agree. I use my loader to pick up those logs that my back just can't handle and roll onto the splitter. Used to cut and split over 10 cords when I lived in Pennsylvania and used about every splitter. Find the horizontal is easiest on the back. Plus, a good freind of mine tore up his tractor pump with splitting logs.
