just bought a dearborn plow for my 52 8N. The model is 10- and the rest I can't make out. How do I tell if this is a 12" or 14" plow.Where do i measure ? Are parts available. Also the coulters are two different kind, is that right ? Thanks

Hi Jerry. Where have you been all summer. Hear you have a new companion that is taking up more of your time. I'm in Lansing for the week. Nice to see you posting again. Talk with you later. Ron

Here is a picture of my 10-1..which I believe is a 14" plow
It is missing the front wheel/discs.

I have a set of Dearborn 10- 1 plows that came with my 8n ( Im sure they are 14 inch ) .I removed the front wheel discs ( v shaped 2 in front of each plow , no way to get them set deep enough to cut soil) I also removed the tailwheel that was bent and caused a strong pull to the right, plows work great now when set properly .

Hey Putz-
Can you post a picture or send me one? Dearborn designated ground breaking imnplements with the 10 prefix from the start, but the first models were 10-1; 10-8; etc. and later models (Economy Plow) were 10-152; 10-156; etc. One way to measure is across the frame beams from one side to the other, inside to outside. But, some farmers may have put a 14" moldboard and share on the rear of a 2-bottom 12" plow and kept the front at 12". Some new parts are available like moldboards and shares, shins, and landsides. Otherwise you're on your own for frame, rolling landside (furrow wheel); coulters; and jointers. The later Economy plows were better engineered. As far as the coulters being different, that really wouldn't matter that much as long as they were set properly. You may find, especially if they are old and dull, that they don't help cut very good so you're better off taking them off anyway. A wise old 8N man once said that they were only good for cutting snakes anyway. If you can't post a picture, contact me and I'll send you some pictures to help identify it. Hope this helps...

Tim

I have a model 10-10, I believe it says. I would like to advertise it for sale, however I was wondering what would be a fair price. Thanks.
Lloyd
