The shaft that goes from the pump into the belly of the tractor (8n) has splines that are worn down, causing the pump to have no power. Who sells these splined shafts? And what is causing it to wear? Please help, winter coming and I will need the loader for snow removal.

Check to make sure that the shaft is aligned correctly. If the splined shaft doesn't come out perpendicular to the splined coupling on the crank pulley, the shaft moves around in the coupling. This will quickly wear down the splines on the shaft.

Also check to make sure that the front pump is rigidly mounted -- no flex in the frame (if the frame is wimpy, add some stiffeners).

I had the same problem. Go to New Holland dealer with your loader model #. New hub $30, new spline shaft $20.
It also appeared that my shaft had been cut shorter once already. The pump was then moved back to make up for the loss in length.

Some years ago the I had the same problem. I measured the length carefully, then cut off the bad part of the spline. Then cut the shaft in half
and slipped a tube over the two pieces and welded
them on. It's doing fine 20 years later. All this
of course assumes your spline is long enough for
this to work.

New-Holland (was Ford) sells the shaft and hubs for the Dearborn and Ford loaders, rust or alignment causes the splines to go out quickly, coat the new shaft splines with never-seize or grease.
