After finding out my rear rims are bad, I thought i would look at the brakes. Got the right drum off, still working on the left one.Two of the bolts that hold the bearing retainer onto the axle housing have the heads broken off inside by the brake shoes. Do these bolts have to come out from the brake side or will they come out from the outside if I keep turning the nut and pull them through ? If so can I get by with a plain bolt with a nut on the inside until I have more time to work on this ? I also noticed on the left side that two of those bolts are broken off on the outside. Been driving this tractor for almost 30 years , only a few minor problems, guess I owe it some repairs for all it has done for me !!

John is right : Look close at those bolts.I cant remember how many is in there but part of them screws into the hub from the outside and some have bolts going through from the inside with nuts on them>If you get any bolts that screw in from the outside into the hub, those are probably fine threads.I also suggest using some thread locker because mine had backed out over the years..HTH....R.M. Are you sure the bolts are broken off or do some thread in from the front and some from the back.

If you get the nuts off, you can drive the bolts toward the shoes and replace them with standard machine bolts. IIRC, the originals have tapered splined shoulders to hold them tight when the nuts are tightened. I replace a couple of mine over the years. Steve 8N 169302
