Dell, I have a Motorola 12 v conversion on my 62' 4000.It has stopped charging, don't know if it's the alternator, or the charging module, I guess this works as a voltage regulator. The module has an adjustment so you can turn up or down the rate of charging.Have you ever seen one and do you know where I can start to trouble shoot?

take the alternator to a REAL starter/alt shop, something that's been there 20+ years. They can test the alt without the tractor. If you want to be daring, turn off all the lights and jumper the field terminal on the back of the alternator to the battery, that will make the alt put out about 18V, and your ammeter will tell you if it's charging or not. YES it's charging, then you need to buy a VREG. NO, then you are gonna have your alternator rebuilt. Trouble with Motorolas is there's only 200 different ones, and the parts are ALMOST interchangeable. Stuff I deal with everyday. BTW, most motorolas have only two different mounting feet either 1" or 2" beyond that the alts can be very easy to swap around. Just don't put a 37A in place of a 55A, you know what I mean. You could alwasy go buy the New Holland 87406906 conversion kit and get a new harness with a quality reman 10SI too. (my official 'advertisement' for the day)

You may want to take the alternator to a parts store and have it tested. Usually free, and starting at the power source ain't a bad way to begin. later

Tried that, they said it has to be on the vehicle to test it.That's not an option.

Al..... ...when you ask for help, it always helps if you share with us what you've done on your own for troubleshooting.....like you've already taken the alternator in for a test and was told that had to be on the vehicle for a test.....because thats the first thing I would suggest. I flunked mind reading, just ask my ex-wife of 32 years.

I'm sorry, I really don't know ANYTHING about your Motorola alternator system..... ...Dell
