Hello All, I'm putting a new 6 volt coil in my '52. The old connections are marked Battery and Distributor but the new one is marked Positive and Negative. I looked in the manual and the drawing shows the wiring to and from the coil but not what is + or -. Anyone know which should be Bat. and Dist.? Thanks in advance, Pete Rajek

Pete..... ...this has been answered many times, you might want to consider checking the "archives" at the top of this great N-Board.

But for you special, the general rule of electronics is (+) to (+). Connect the (+) of the coil to the (+) of the battery. Since your battery should be (+) ground, that would mean that the coil (+) is connected to ground thru the distributor points.

It is important that your ignition coil be correctly connected polarity wize because you can loose upto 40% of your sparkies with incorrect coil polarity..... .....respectfully, Dell

Pete, your 52 8N SHOULD BE POSITIVE GROUND. If so, the wire from the battery goes to the (-), and the wire going to the distributor goes to the (+).

Ole Henry is correct..... ...The N-Tractor ORIGINALLY came from factory with the 6 volt battery (+) grounded. That means the battery (-) must go to the ignition switch. Then the igniton ON must go to the ignition coil (-). Just as the ignition coil (+) must go to (+) ground thru the ignition points..... ...Dell
