Hello,

How hard is it to connect electrical wiring? I have a Security Light (like a street light) I want to install on a pole on my property. Should I just get an electrician? Help!!!

I take notice that Lowes and Home Depot both sell and consult on how to do wiring. They also have brochures that instruct step-by-step on how to do the installations of the products that they sell.

Although, I don't know if you might require a license to perform such installations in your area, but, I think that the above mentioned retailers can advise you. Hope this helps.

The question I would ask is, do YOU feel capable of doing the job? You need to find out what the local codes are pertaining to outside wiring. If you are at all unsure, it's better to hire the job done by licensed electricians. That way, you're sure it's done right.

Good Luck!

I feel that I am capable to do the job, I just don't know how to do the job. Trust me, I know the dangers of electricity, that's why I want to know how involved a job it would be. I have an security light I purchased from the hardware store, and I won't to mount it to a pole on my property. My 8n and middle buster are ready to do some trenching for the wiring..... .

I would get either Home Depots wiring 1-2-3 or Black and Deckers electrical book (not the advanced book). Easy to understand verbage, sometimes have pics of what you wanna do. If you have confidance, understand the dangers, these will help. I refered to them during my recent remodel. Had an electrician double check, everything was good to go. HTH...good luck...don t. ...
