Paint Which Bolts?

I've researched the archives and found some very helpful info on the paint color of the various components for the 8N. I'm still not sure, however, about a couple of things. Originally (i.e., at the factory) were component parts like the air filter assembly, generator, and starter painted separately from the engine? It would seem difficult to obtain good paint coverage on many items if they were attached before being painted. If the component parts were painted separately, does that mean the bolts used to attach the items were left unpainted or were the component parts given a second coat along with the bolts? For example, were the following bolts painted?
Axle assy. to center axle
Rear wheel disc to rim
Running board to running bd. bracket

I have a book containing a picture taken of Ford's assembly paint line for 8Ns - looks as though everything is getting sprayed. Yes, I'm trying to restore as close to original as I can. Thanks so much in advance.

A few years ago I repainted my 9N at which time I removed practically every component and painted the components separately. This way I was able to paint all undersides of the hood, gas tank, and the remaining sheet metal.

I wire-brushed all bolts and connectors and painted every part. I pushed the bolts thru a piece of cardboard to cover the threads.

After the tractor was re-assembled, I had to "touch-up" the bolt heads.

So, I think the best way is to disassemble. I noticed that every parts seemed to be painted originally.

Hope this helps.

Rick,
Yes, I'll scan the photo and send it to you later this evening. I need my daughter's help to do it (I'm a computer idiot).
