I've replaced the sediment bowl assembly, new plugs, cleaned and gapped points, and the danged thing still won't start when the weather is cold. She fires once and dies and that's it until the weather warms up. Pretty weird. Maybe the carb needs a rebuild??? Help??? The weather is only going to get colder.

Roger..... ...lotta reasons why engines won't start cold but will when warm. Anything from weak sparkies to plain ol'tired engine.

I'd do a compression test first, Ford specs 90 psi min, dry then wet. 5 puffs min dry and ritter down. Then squirt of oil in sparkie hole and cranker'gain, 5 puffs min. Writter down. If you've got more than 20 psi difference between dry and wet, ya gotts a worn engine and if'n ya gotts less than 90 psi, you have a tired and worn engine that is canidate for overhaul.

One of the origial founders of this great N-Board used to claim, 80% of all carb problems were solved in the ignition system. I'd plan ahead and get the engine warmed up durning the day and while it was still warm, I'd starter up on a DARK NITE, and watch for little blue sparkies dancing on the sparkie wires and 5-nipple distributor cap..... ....Dell

Rodger..... ..."starter up on a DARK NITE, and watch for little blue sparkies dancing on the sparkie wires and 5-nipple distributor cap"..... .is an eazy way to check for bad sparkies. Which is symptomatic of your hard to start cold engine complaint. If you see little sparkies anywhere replace it..... ...Dell

If you really want to bring'em out take a little spray mister bottle with water in it and give 'em a little shot.
